Woodcarving / Multiple Sessions / Tuesdays / October 2007 through April 2008 / 6:30 to 9:30 pm
DALE TIMMERMAN will be your instructor. This is a class for all levels of skill. Classes will begin on the first Tuesday in October and ends the last Tuesday in April. No pre-registration required. Bring your equipment with you and come enjoy the conversation and talents of our wood carvers’ league. If you are in need of supplies, some may be available for sale or someone will help you find what you need for your particular project. There are as many different kinds of carving going on, as there are personalities. All skill levels are welcome. No charge for your first visit.
*Fees are $6.00 per night for RAA members and $11.00 for non-members. (plus materials)

Each Wednesday afternoon the Range Creative Art Center is open to members to work on their projects. Come join other members who are starting something new, finishing or just come to see what is going on.

February 11th Creative Creations with Clay- work and create a Valentine gift for a special friend, MOM, or DAD. Learn how to roll, coil with clay or use it as a slab project. Please wear clothes that can be messed up. Cost $7.00
February 18th No School…What can we doooo…. Come to the Art Center/Call and sign up. We will work with plaster and make décor stones while we wish for warm whether. We will use cut glass and ceramics if you would like to have gloves please bring them. Cost $5.00
February 25th Drawing Animals…What is your favorite animal how can you relate to his appearance. Practice drawing realistically and then place your friend in an friendly environment; if you have time make the environment 3-D or 2 dimensional. Cost $5.00
March 3rd Work with yarn. Complete one or several projects. Chose from yarn dolls, making rugs, braids, or fuzzies animals. Cost $5.00
March 10th See the color of Spring in Green Lets Prepare for ST. Pats day. Explore shading and enhancing nature by painting scenery using green/yellow and blue along with white and black. That’s all colors for you. We will consider what Monet thought of green too. Cost $5.00
March 17th Everyone is seeing green except us we see the color blue and yellow because that is what really is green. We will be using pastels to colored pencils to make patterns of the day. What colors help make a pattern flow or move and what stops the pattern from going any further. Will examine Tibetan décor. And their use of shapes. Surrealism is it real? And how do they use shapes Cost $5.00
March 24th Easter Break Save your egg Shells Bring them in next week..
April 7th Egg Shell Art/ Mosaic Style Bring in all the egg shell you can find we will Create a wonder of wonder of pictures together. Expand your imagination create animals, or a sea scape, bring in an image you would like to create out of the egg shells. Pin point painting or applying color it took one artist years you will only have an hour will you succeed? Cost $ 3.00
April 14th Calling all Photographers!! We will use digital camera, if you have yours bring it. We will have some cameras available to use. Then we will take close up photos and long distance photos. Bring in items of interest to take pictures of. We will look at pictures of other photographers and determine how they were able to create the image they did. Cost $10.00 (some scholarships available.)
April 21st Sculpture with wood. Puzzle the way with wood. Use wood glue, nails, and sand your way into a smooth feelings of the curves and edges. We will examine Frank Lloyd Wright and the influence of Scandinavian architecture. Cost $7.00
April 28th Sculpture with clay we will study Michelangelo the sculpture and how he used his hands to create works of art that are not necessarily proportional to the everyday person. How would you like ape arms? It would depend on if your look up at in life. David didn’t mind neither did the art world. Cost $7.00

Blooms and Blossoms / 5 Sessions / Thursdays / May 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, 2008 / 1:00-3:30 pm
LOUISE LUNDIN will instruct students using Watercolor OR Acrylic OR Pen and Ink OR Colored Pencils or Crayons
(or all of the above). She will feature five fun, unforgettable sessions filled with flowers! Join us at the Range Art Creative Art Center for a class focused on spring and early-summer blooms and blossoms. During each class session of 2-1/2 hours, students will draw, color, or paint a flower or cluster of flowers to completion. The first class will feature DAFFODILS, followed by TULIPS, IRIS, PANSY, and SUNFLOWERS. Telemark Rosemaling / 3 Sessions / Friday thru Sunday / April 11-13, 2008 / Friday - 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm / Saturday & Sunday - 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
TERESA McCUE will be your instructor. This is a "Beginner's Class" and all materials such as a 12” Nordic plate, brushes and paints are provided for a $40.00 fee payable to the Instructor. Teresa resides in Aurora, MN and is an experienced Rosemaler, teaching classes ALL over the world—even on cruise ships! Teresa will be traveling to Norway in August to take a 2 week class also! Fused Glass Class / 1 Session / Saturday / April 19, 2008 / 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm
MARY AUGUSTYN will be your Instructor. This will be the second in a series of classes in the art of fusing stained glass into necklaces, earrings, pendants, and small wall plaques. Mary Augustyn is a brand new instructor in fused glass. She moved to Bovey from Illinois approximately 6 years ago and has been specializing in various art forms such as stained glass, pottery, handmade cards and now fused glass. Mary took a fused glass class in Grand Rapids and is excited about sharing this fun and interesting art form. Extra stained glass, necklace bails, earring posts will be available to be purchased directly from the instructor - (approx. $10.00 to $20.00). The projects will be fused and can be picked up at a later date. Come in and try a new class from an artist who sells her pieces in Illinois, Georgia, Washington State and Wisconsin. Watercolor Painting / 1 Session / Saturday / April 26, 2008 / 11:00 am to 4:00 pm
GAIL PETERSON will be instructing participants in creating an "Oval Landscape with a Barn and Wild Roses". All materials will be provided.

Exploring Watercolors / 2 Sessions / Saturday & Sunday / May 17 & 18, 2008 / Sat - 9 am to 5 pm & Sun - 12 noon to 4 pm
KEITH THOMPSON will be your Instructor. Keith Thompson will demonstrate his unique approach to painting watercolors. If you haven’t taken one of Keith’s classes before now is the time. Bring in reference photos or a drawing ready to go. Don’t have anything you want to paint? There will be photos for you to use during class. Bring your reference sketches and/or photos, a warm and cool of each primary color plus burnt sienna, quality 140 # watercolor paper, board for mounting your paper on, a sponge, paper towels, regular towel, 2 water containers, a #8 or larger round and a 1” flat brushes, an easel or something to hold your board at an angle.
*Fees are $60.00 for RAA members and $65.00 for non-members.
Classes may be arranged through your local Girl Scout Office to meet badge requirements. Costs and scheduling will depend on Art Center schedules and badge material requirements. Check your guidebook for dates, times and fees.
Request your media and subject and we will furnish an instructor. Cost dependent on materials involved.
