Ink and Watercolor (aka Line and Wash) / 4 Sessions / Thursdays / October 21, 28, November 4, 11, 2010 / 1:00-3:30 pm

LOUISE LUNDIN will instruct students using "Ink and Watercolor" - Fellow painters, get ready to draw and paint with your watercolor brush. A watercolor brush has been called "the expressive companion of the painter's heart."  It is pliant and flexible, and enables us to paint strokes that have personality (unlike a ball-point or fixed nib pen).  Demonstrations will emphasize how to create sparkling works of art using ink and free color washes, or ink plus color with dry brush. Painters, you may paint the daily demo or work from your own photos.  Brush work: another sweet addition to your creative repertoire.  At the end of each lesson, students will have a completed work to sign, take home, and frame. All levels welcome.

View materials list at www.lundinart.com. Click on workshops.  Sign up for all four session or take them on a “walk-in” basis.

Fall 2010 - Weekend Workshops and Classes

Quilting 101 / 1 Session / Saturday / September 18, 2010 / 9:30 am to 2:00 pm

JAMIE MCDOUGALL will be your Instructor.  This easy beginners project is a 12” x 33” table runner. We will learn fabric, fabric selection and basic quilting terms, piecing techniques and materials. You will probably complete this project during the workshop.  You may contact the Instructor at: 218-263-4289 or 218-966-7281 if you wish to purchase a "fabric pack" from her for $10.00 or to answer any questions. Please bring a bag lunch.

Materials include:
• Portable sewing machine, needles
• Neutral colored cotton thread
• 3 fat quarters coordinating 100% cotton fabric (one with a large overall pattern or motif, one with a medium sized overall pattern and a third with a small overall small pattern)
• 1/2 yd craft fleece
• 1/2 yd backing fabric
• 1/4 yard binding fabric
• Olfa or other brand self-healing cutting mat at least 18” x 24”
• Rotary cutter, 45mm up to 62mm (I like to use a 60mm)
• Scissors (Olfa or Fiskars recommended)
• Clear ruler, 18” x 3” is a good size
• 1/4” foot for accurate seams - comes with many machines, but can be bought separately. When asking for one, be sure to know the brand of machine as the feet are different for different machines. I can make available some choices of fabric packets and a limited number of sewing machines at your request. If you are unfamiliar with any of these items, please call me and I will be happy to help! If you sew and want to start making quilts, this is a good place to start. All you need to do is sew a straight seam, so fancy sewing machines are not necessary!
